Many studies have also found feeding behaviour to be especially problematic with children with ASD who may refuse to eat certain foods or have to eat in particular ways. This may cause parents to accommodate to special eating routines. Keep in mind however that a bad feeding habit is snacking right before bedtime or having a heavy or late meal, as this could affect the child's ability to fall asleep.

Parents should be aware of any feeding habits that may interfere with the child's sleeping and try to avoid these, even if they are a routine that the child has become accustomed to.
